Performance
All 2026 Kicks models come equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-four engine producing 141 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with the latest Nissan Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). Thanks to a more responsive transmission and the engine’s strong low- and mid-range torque, the entire powertrain provides confident acceleration.
All 2026 Kicks models are offered with an optional Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. This feature provides added confidence and control in various weather conditions and on different road surfaces. Drive modes are available, including a “snow” mode that adjusts the all-wheel-drive and vehicle dynamic control systems specifically for slippery surfaces. Yaw control with targeted brake application helps ensure the Kicks stays on the driver’s intended path when cornering in snow or ice.
As an added benefit, when driving on rough roads or snow, the Kicks features a ground clearance of 8.4 inches, which is higher than most models in its class. This allows the Kicks to easily handle uneven surfaces while remaining stable on smoother ones.
Exterior
The Kicks makes a strong impression with its bold and expressive design. The wide stance and fenders lead to a more rounded, protected cabin. Thick fenders and a distinctive boxy shape define the lower half of the vehicle, contrasted with the cleaner upper body. The rear end is just as eye-catching, featuring a subtle roof spoiler and full-width LED taillights that split the liftgate in two and wrap around into combination lights on the flared rear fenders.
It comes down to the details. The 2026 Kicks design was influenced by sneaker culture. Plenty of details, such as the rocker panel trim, may remind you of the soles of the coolest sneakers around. The available two-tone paint with contrasting roof color also takes inspiration from sneakers and athletic shoes.
Interior
Inside, the Kicks has an immediately modern and airy look. Think of it as a cozy cocoon that is inviting, spacious, and comfortable. In front of the driver is a new flat-bottom, three-spoke steering wheel with tactile controls. The center console provides space for essentials with two cupholders (designed to fit 30-ounce coffee tumblers) and an enclosed storage compartment. Bottle holders in the doors are large enough to fit 32-ounce tumblers.
The SR grade features sleek, touch-sensitive switches for operating the automatic climate control. Red stitching highlights our top-of-the-line sporty model. The available powered panoramic moonroof introduces more light and airiness into the cabin. It has distinct buttons for opening the glass or operating the power shade, making it easier for drivers and passengers to use. A new, slimmer design reduces the moonroof’s intrusion into headroom, and a new slide mechanism lessens wind noise.
Both rows of seats feature Nissan’s Zero Gravity seating design, which helps evenly distribute weight and pressure across occupants’ bodies. These seats are crafted for a more comfortable sitting position that helps reduce fatigue. The softer, supportive design increases comfort and minimizes the chances of backseat passengers’ hips sliding down uncomfortably on longer trips.
In turn, shoulder and knee room have increased from the previous-generation model, providing occupants with more space. This also results in a larger cargo capacity. Front-wheel-drive models offer up to 30 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, which expands to 60 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down.
You also get extra space in the rear with a small hidden storage compartment beneath the cargo floor. If you need even more room for luggage and shopping, you can adjust the flexible luggage board for taller items. Just slide the cargo floor up or down into position. No matter the height of your luggage board, the 2026 Nissan Kicks has a low liftover height of under 28 inches, making it easier to load and unload items such as strollers, heavy luggage, or your band’s gear.
Technology
Standard across the model line is a flat panel across the dashboard that houses two screens. One is for the instrument meter, and the other is for the infotainment system. The standard instrument meter measures 7.0 inches, while the Kicks SR upgrades to an even more striking 12.3-inch unit with two display modes: a traditional classic and a more feature-rich enhanced view. The infotainment touchscreen on the SV and SR measures 12.3 inches. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be wirelessly connected to this screen, and devices can be plugged in through USB-C ports or wirelessly via a charging pad in the center console.
Choosing the 2026 Kicks SR Premium Package includes the 10-speaker Bose® Personal Plus audio system. This system provides clear, realistic sound all around the cabin.
Safety
The Kicks offers an extensive array of driver assistance and safety features developed to keep you and everyone inside and around you safe and secure. Nissan Safety Shield 360™ is standard across all models. Features for the Safety Shield 360 include:
- Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Rear automatic braking
- Blind spot warning
- Rear cross traffic alert
- Lane departure warning
- High beam assist
Additionally, Kicks S and SV come with standard intelligent cruise control. The SR model offers more with ProPILOT Assist. This advanced system provides steering help to keep the driver centered in their lane, making highway driving easier.
Other standard convenience features include Easy-Fill Tire Alert, a function that makes topping off tire air pressure easier. Rear Door Alert notifies the driver about potentially forgotten items. Intelligent Driver Alertness warns if the driver’s behavior indicates fatigue. The SR also adds the Intelligent Around View Monitor, which provides a virtual 360-degree, bird’s-eye view around the vehicle to simplify parking and maneuvering.
