Nissan Debuts Exciting Frontier, Kicks Concepts at SEMA
The annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show allows automakers to show off unique and often one-off custom versions of production vehicles. At the 2025 SEMA Show, Nissan showed off two cool variants of its popular and recently upgraded Frontier pickup, as well as two concepts of the recently fully renewed Kicks.
Project Tailgater Concept
The Nissan Frontier Project Tailgater brings the enjoyment of partying and hanging out with friends—and mixes it with camping. Built with PowerNation TV’s “Music City Trucks,” the Project Tailgater started life as a PRO-4X Frontier before receiving special NISMO Off-Road accessories that included a lift kit, high performance suspension, bed rack, cargo cases, off-road lighting, and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. Nissan and PowerNation TV also added two 43-inch waterproof TVs, powered coolers, a grill, and a kitchen sink.
TARMAC Concept
Next up is the Frontier TARMAC Concept that brings the love of sport and muscle trucks together again in one really cool package. Nissan Motorsports, Nissan Design America, and Forsberg Racing all worked together to create the perfect sport truck with some extra grunt and performance to make it just right. Painted in Afterburn Orange paint (an option for the 2025 Frontier) and with a custom widebody kit that features carbon fiber accents, a vented hood, roof cap, spoiler, aero, and then some, there is no mistaking the purpose of this truck. The team added a Roots-style supercharger, prototype NISMO cold-air intake, and a custom NISMO exhaust to pump the 3.8-liter V6’s output up to 400 horsepower… at the wheels. In addition to all that go, Nissan thankfully added some power in the stopping department. A high-performance big brake kit with custom 15-inch two-piece rotors and Nissan Z NISMO brake calipers will scrub off speed quickly. Thanks to Yokohama Advan tires with NISMO TARMAC 20-inch wheels and a prototype NISMO high-performance suspension with adjustable coilovers, the TARMAC isn’t just for show.
The 2025 Nissan Frontier
The standard 2025 Nissan Frontier comes with a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. There are four trim levels available, including S, SV, PRO-4X, and SL. Nissan has upgraded the 2025 Frontier to now tow as much as 7,150 pounds when properly optioned and equipped.
Beach Patrol Concept
The all-new 2025 Kicks got some special treatment with the Beach Patrol Concept that was inspired by the rescue vehicles that take care of all the beachgoers. This concept brings Nissan Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, a custom suspension lift, 18-inch NISMO Off-Road Ascend wheels wrapped in Yokohama GEOLANDAR off-road tires, plus a shower kit and coolers.
Urban Shadow Concept
If Baywatch isn’t your thing, maybe the Kicks Urban Shadow Concept will tickle your fancy. Inspired by tuner culture, this concept features special graphics, 18-inch NISMO LM-RS6 wheels, a custom coilover suspension, and a NISMO cat-back exhaust system. This specific build helps to show how Kicks owners may be able to modify their cars in the future with NISMO parts and accessories.
The 2025 Nissan Kicks
The new-for-2025 Kicks is available in three trim levels: S, SV, and SR. It is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that produces 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque and is combined with an Xtronic CVT. While front-wheel drive is standard, the Kicks can also be optioned with all-wheel drive.
