Nissan Nailed It With The New Kicks, Says Motor1

Nissan brand’s onslaught of redesigned trucks and SUVs has produced hit after hit, and the 2025 Kicks crossover is keeping that streak alive. The experts over at Motor1.com put a somewhat colorful spin on it, but we can’t say we disagree with their conclusion: “Nissan nailed the new Kicks.” 

The 2025 Nissan Kicks has grown—and grown up. And Motor1’s review points out just how beneficial this overhaul was to the baby crossover. This is the first generation of the Kicks to be available with two key features: all-wheel drive and Nissan ProPILOT Assist. The former gives the Kicks more all-weather capability, while the latter offers drivers more active safety equipment.  

Motor1 praised the car’s updated exterior styling, noting how well it suits the small Kicks. While the new Kicks may be larger and heavier than the old model, the new shape hides the weight increase well. The SR trim received special attention for its black exterior accents, 19-inch wheels, and, in the case of their test vehicle, the two-tone paint option.  

Inside, they noted the perfect bolstering and ample support offered by the front Zero Gravity™ seats and the impressive 12.3-inch infotainment and cluster screens optional on higher trims.  Meanwhile, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration are standard, even on the most basic Kicks.  

A larger Kicks means more room for both people and cargo. Behind the roomier back seat, there’s 30 cubic feet of cargo space available. With the rear seat folded, the cargo volume doubles to 60 cubic feet.  

Motor1 also called the Kicks “unexpectedly nice to drive,” citing the punchy, 2.0-liter engine’s improved power output and obvious improvement in torque, saying that the Kicks offers plenty of power for acceleration and passing when called upon.  

This is also the first time the Kicks has been offered with ProPILOT Assist driver assistance technology, and Motor1 complimented its braking and throttle smoothness, along with its ability to both keep the car centered and maintain a safe following distance.  

So, what was their final verdict? 

“The 2025 Kicks is excellent. It ticks all the right boxes for buyers in this category, looks good doing it, and still costs less than $25,000 to start.”
