How to Master Packing Your Car
Everyone thinks they’re a pro at packing a car until it comes time to fit everyone’s luggage in the trunk or properly place all the day’s errands and groceries in the car. It’s always easy to think you can do it, but suddenly, you’re quickly running out of space and need to find room for three more suitcases and bags. All Nissan vehicles have excellent cargo capacity, but the cars can’t do it for you. Nissan engineers aren’t showing up at your house to teach you how to do it better.
A Tetris Master Can Help You Pack Better
Worry not, as DanV, a famous Tetris champion out of the United Kingdom, has decided to help us out with some tips and tricks for packing our Nissan cars and SUVs most effectively. We should warn you, as the tips are a little Tetris-y, but you’ll certainly get the gist.
Don’t Overpack
You should always pack your clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc. In your luggage with purpose and not just tossed in haphazardly. One big problem is if you need to pack a jacket, which can make things complicated. Instead of packing a bigger jacket, can you pack two smaller jackets that can be worn together if the weather is going to be cold? The same goes for shoes. At most, you only need two pairs of shoes, sneakers, and something that’s dress casual.
Be Organized
This is a good tip for anyone when packing your bags and then putting them into a car. Like in Tetris and in real life, looking for and understanding patterns can quickly help you adapt to the situation. For instance, every bag is going to be a different size, so is it best to stack two bags on top of one another to meet the height of the tallest suitcase? Is it better to stand one up and slide others in on their side? Try to see the patterns that will assist you in fitting everything in the best way.
Smaller Is Better
“In Tetris, creating gaps can lead to difficult situations, and packing is no different.” This is definitely true when you are trying to pack t-shirts, button-downs, or collared shirts for a dressier look, plus socks, underwear, multiple pairs of pants and shorts, and so on. You want to pack everything as tightly as possible so that your luggage doesn’t really take up much space in the car, in the overhead bin of an airplane, or under the seat in front of you.
